Tom joined A. Montag & Associates in mid-2003 as a senior portfolio manager with direct oversight of many client relationships and their portfolios. Tom is a key member of the firm, particularly active in research and stock selection. Tom brings an effective “top-down” equity style to the firm.

An attorney and member of the Georgia Bar, he has worked in the SunTrust trust department prior to his long tenure in the investment management field. While at the bank, Tom was one of five managers chosen from among the bank’s 165 investment managers to oversee the five investment silos that the bank now offers clients as standard investment strategy. The silo he ran, titled Multi-Strategy, achieved exceptional performance returns in the 3 year, 5 year and 10 year periods.

Tom is a native of Wisconsin, having been born and raised in La Crosse. He received a B.S. in Business Administration at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in 1975 and a law degree from the University of Wisconsin in 1977. Tom and his wife Mary Ann have a son at the University of Georgia, and daughter in high school. Tom’s hobbies include golf, some gardening and reading.
