Mike
joined the firm in 1984 and has been a senior portfolio manager
ever since. With 40 years of investment experience, he now directly
services approximately 75 clients and their respective portfolios.
He is also significantly involved in staff training, equity research,
and trading. Mike has frequently been involved in generational
transition matters, estate planning for clients, and has many
clients he has worked with more than a decade. Prior to joining
A. Montag & Associates,
Mike spent nearly twenty years with what is today known as SunTrust
Bank. There, he was trained as a portfolio manager and ultimately
became responsible for a $400 million trust and estate unit.
Mike is a past president of Atlanta Friends
of the Library and the Botanical Society of Georgia. He is active
in the Ansley Park Civic Association and a member of the Paideia
School Endowment Fund Committee.
Mike grew up in Savannah, GA and graduated form
Davidson College in North Carolina. He later received an MBA from
Emory University. He is married to Jane Harmon, who teaches 7th
and 8th grade students at Paideia School and is active in the
Ansley Park Civic Association. Beyond Mike's interest in the investment
counseling field, he is an avid world traveler, bird watcher,
gardener, chef and hiker.
